While Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia especially for central governance and business hustle, Yogyakarta is the country’s “capital” of education, culture and arts. With its long history of civilization, Yogyakarta is a vibrant center for contemporary culture as well as classical arts.

Yogyakarta, or also known as “Jogja”, is an exciting and comfortable place to study in Indonesia. Life runs in a quiet and subtle way with the gentle touch of Javanese culture which seems to dominate the city. Students can easily find convenient places to meet with friends, held a study group, or attending various public events such as seminars, festivals and arts performances. The city also provides various facilities to support the learning needs of students such as the city library, bookstores, internet cafes, copy centers and stationeries. To enjoy a relaxing time on the weekend, you can visit the shopping centers, cinemas, and a variety of entertainment and fun hangout places. Wherever you come from, you will find and feel Yogyakarta as your second home.

Transportation

In addition to convenient access from other major cities through Adisutjipto International Airport, Tugu and Lempuyangan Train Stations, as well as Giwangan and Jombor Bus Stations, Yogyakarta also has reliable city transportation. Students can easily access the city bus transportation (Trans Jogja), using motorcycle taxi (ojek) or calling for a cab. Online ride-hailing services such as Go-Jek and Grab are also reliable and very easy to find in the city. In addition, private motorcycles and cars are also widely used by students.

Foods

Various kinds of amenities at affordable prices can be found easily throughout Yogyakarta at stalls, mini markets, malls or even the local traditional markets. Food can also be found without difficulty at street food stalls, cafes, and restaurants. Asides from providing Yogyakarta traditional cuisine, various traditional dishes from all over Indonesia and international cuisine are also available.

There are many support facilities such as telecommunications, libraries, book stores, photocopy centers, computer stores, and electronic peripheral stores are available in Yogyakarta. Postal delivery and international fund transfer will not be a problem as post offices and banks can be found in every subdistrict. To escape from routine academic activities, Yogyakarta offers many recreational options, shopping destination, and beautiful temples and beaches to visit.
