UII’s Electrical Engineering (PSTE) Study Program was established on July 22, 1997. Currently, UII’s Electrical Engineering is referring to ABET (American Board for Engineering and Technology) curriculum, and therefore,ready for international accreditation while maintaining its capabilities in equipping its students with skills within the areas of Control, Telecommunication and Power through local uniqueness of disaster mitigation, renewable energy, and biomedics. In the area of Control, students are trained to be ready to enter the industrial working world that implements control system and its supporting tools such as manufacturing industry and process industry (industrial automation) and employs industrial instrumentation. In the area of Telecommunications, students are trained to be ready to develop a career in the telecommunications industry such as vendors and providers of telecommunicatons. Meanwhile, in the areas of Power, students are prepared to become skilled professionals who are able to solve problems related to electrical energy in terms of the generation, transmission and distribution.
In 2016, UII’s PSTE UII succeeded in obtaining A Accreditation from the NationalAccreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) with the Decree No. 0944/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/Vl/2016 and thus makes UII’s PSTE the only Electrical Engineering bachelor degree of a Private University (PTS) in Yogyakarta and Central Java Province that have received A Accreditation.
Supporting facilities owned by Electrical Engineering study program include 6 laboratory rooms, LG Corner room, research center space and training room. Some trainings aimed at equipping and improving student competence are also available in this study program: LabView training (site license), PLC, SCADA, microcontroller, FPGA, MATLAB, DSP, and DAQ, telecommunication network planning and optimization, drive test for 2G and 3G networks, and OPNET. Currently, UII’s PSTE has partnerships with several institutions, both domestically and abroad, including National Instruments, LG Innotech, BATAN, Jogja Media Net, PT. Globalindo Technology Service, Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (Malaysia), Nuvoton (Taiwan), and Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (Thailand).
Career Opportunities
Some career prospects for graduates of Electrical Engineering study program include working in various industries such as Pertamina, PLN Persero, Halliburton, Siemens, LG-lnnotek, Indosat, Telkomsel and Excelindo. Additionally, they can also work as civil servants, lecturers and entrepreneurs. UII’s Electrical Engineering bachelor degree provides sufficient knowledge base to the students should they desire to linearly continue their education to S2 and S3 level, both within the country or abroad.
