UII Partners with Preemployment Program as Training Assessor
Yogyakarta—Competition to enter workforce is becoming increasingly tighter, making it a concern for millennials. Tertiary degrees now require the addition of sufficient work skills. Responding to this situation, the government has been providing support to the younger generations through the preemployment card (Kartu Pra-Kerja) program.
Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) had the opportunity to take part in expanding the coverage of this program. In collaboration with the Implementing Management of the Preemployment Card Program (MPPKP), the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at UII’s Prof. Dr. Sardjito Building on Friday, 3 February 2023.
The MoU appoints UII as an assessor for training courses that wish to be offered in the program, joining other Indonesian universities that have also been appointed assessor.
UII Rector Prof. Fathul Wahid, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., along with the Vice Rectors and UII’s Director of Partnership/Office of International Affairs, welcomed the MPPKP team led by Executive Director Denni Puspa Purbasari.
Before the MoU signing, Prof. Fathul delivered a speech, thanking all for the realization of the cooperation with MPPKP. He said programs like the preemployment card should indeed be implemented inclusively and target areas that were yet covered. With UII being an extension of reaching these uncovered areas, he expects the preemployment card program will work more optimally.
The rector also thanked the program for entrusting UII with 30,000 training vouchers that would be distributed to final-semester students and alumni. The distribution of these vouchers was the first step in the UII-MPPKP collaboration to ensure the optimum implementation of the preemployment card program.
Echoing the rector, Denni Puspa Purbasari explained the urgency of the preemployment card program. According to her, the program now implements a normal scheme with a different selection process compared to the previous years.
She thanked UII for welcoming the partnership with MPPKP, hoping that the collaboration would make the program more effective. UII’s appointment as assessor would expand the training courses the program offered to its participants.
“We previously only had five assessors. We need more knowledge and helping hands to support this program,” she said. (VIP Magazine Vol 10)
