The MIE Program was established in 2009 with a decree from the Director General of Higher Education No. 453/D/T/2009 Dated 9 April 2009. The aim of this Study Program is to expand the scientific repertoire in the field of Islamic Economics and Finance as well as to develop formal masters level education as a continuation of the existing educational programs in the undergraduate programs. This development is in accordance with the growth of the Islamic Finance Industry (eg. Islamic Bank, Islamic Insurance, and Islamic Capital Market) in particular, as well as the practice of Islamic Economy in general, so that the existence of this study program becomes extremely relevant to the efforts in meeting the needs of competent and reliable human resources in the fields of Islamic Economics & Finance specifically, as well as in the fields of economics in general.

This program has been available for more than a decade, and has achieved a number of important achievements including the accreditation from BAN-PT, where they achieved a B Accreditation for the first time in 2014, and improved to an A Accreditation in 2019. Another achievement is that until the 20th Class, this study program has successfully produced graduates of more than 130 alumni. About half of them, work as lecturers in public and private universities scattered all the way from Aceh to Maluku. Other alumni work as practitioners in the financial sector, both in banks and MFIs such as BMT, consultants and entrepreneurs.

This Study Program was created by relying on its specialties in development of the Islamic Financial Economics driven by the ideological guidance on the Islamic development in economic and finance that has been pioneered since the 80s before this field was even developed by the Islamic higher education institutions. This excellence in ideology is supported by the competence of the Lecturers who are extremely competent with a strong knowledge in economics, making it easy to promote the development of the Islamic Financial Economics.

Graduates of this study program are able to pursue carriers as academics, researchers, and analysts in Islamic Financial Economics. Apart from that, a number of alumni from this study program are active in Islamic micro finance institutions such as Baitul Mal wat Tamwil and Lembaga Zakat (LAZIS)

Master of Economics Study Program in FBE UII can be attended by bachelors of any background (multi entry), both those who are already working and fresh graduates.

Registration forms are available any time during office hours in the admissions department. The completed registration form shall then be returned to the admissions with the following attachments:

  • Three copies of a legalized bachelor’s diploma
  • One sheet of a legalized bachelor’s transcript
  • Passport photos sized 2×3 and 4×4, 4 sheets each.
  • A copy of Indonesian ID card
  • A copy of Birth Certificate

Pass the TPA Test Selection

Registration Period I: March – June
Registration Period II: September – December

Registration Flow:

  • Get the registration forms at the admissions
  • Fill out and return the form to the admissions along with the requirements
  • Pay the registration and TPA test fee of Rp 750,000.-
  • Take the TPA (Academic Potential Test)

Total Cost            : Rp 29,000,000.-

Note:

If in semester 5 and onwards the student has yet to graduate, then at the beginning of each semester he/she is required to pay a re-registration fee of Rp2,500,000.- and a thesis extension fee of Rp2,500,000.-.

The Study Program is currently and has planned to conduct a Student Exchange for students with a number of campuses in Malaysia, such as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
