Thailand—Universitas Islam Indonesia’s (UII) English Language Study Program (PBI) has formed a partnership with Thailand’s Kuwait Pittayapat School as part of expanding the university’s network. The partnership with the Krabi City-based Islamic school was marked by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.

This partnership will allow PBI UII to send students to the school for Practical Field Experience (PPL) within ASEAN.

Attending the signing were PBI UII lecturers Dr. Ista Maharsi S.S., M.Hum. and Willy Prasetya, S.Pd., M.A. and two student representatives. Officials from the school licensee and the Kuwait Pittayapat school, and educational staffs, especially the English teachers, also attended the meeting that took place in the school hall.

The event began by playing the school’s profile video to understand the identity of the potential partner. Afterwards, Willy Prasetya played profile videos of UII and PBI and provided brief explanations about the university and study program.

Ista Maharsi expressed hope in her opening speech that both institutions would maintain close cooperation after signing of the MoU. She said this momentum was a good first step for students from both PBI UII and the Kuwait Pittayapat School to gain international experience in learning and teaching English Language.

Meanwhile, Suffian Awae, an official at the school licensee that oversees the Kuwait Pittayapat School, said he was very happy to welcome PBI UII to the school. “We hope this cooperation will support the Kuwait Pittayapat School in providing knowledge for our children, and of course for all Muslims,” he said.

The ceremony went on with a discussion about details of the program that PBI UII was offering to the school. After that, the delegates took a tour around the school and classes of all education levels the school offered, from kindergarten to high school.

The next day, on Wednesday, 2 February 2023, the UII delegates took another tour to the licensee’s other schools, namely the Tarbiah Islamiah School in Phang-Nga and the Pattanasat Witthaya School in Klongyang Krabi. (VIP Magazine Vol 10)
